Big brother is watching you! The Greens in the EP are convinced that the EU Commission will create an electronic fortress.
The European Commission presented a bill for the introduction of the so-called "smart borders", a kind of passenger surveillance. The Commission argues that it wants easier access and enhanced security. But opponents are warning that Europe becomes an electronic fortress. In the European Parliament that has to vote on this proposal the EVP and the Liberals support the smart borders. The Greens however have started a campaign against this idea.
